REV teams up with Friends of the Blood Bank in Dorian’s Wake

“The nation’s top communications provider hosts in-store blood drive for Hurricane Dorian Victims.”

REV opened its storefront in the Mall at Marathon to dozens of Bahamians who were ready to offer the ultimate gift to their compatriots many of whom were devastated by the effects of Hurricane Dorian in the Northern Islands.  The communications giant collaborated with a non-profit group, Friends of the Blood Bank who independently arranges blood drive to source the blood bank at the Princess Margaret Hospital.

Director of Friends of the Blood Bank, Mark Palmer said, “Last year we needed 26,000 pints of blood at the PMH and we only got 4,000. So we started [this group] so that we could do blood drives for PMH… help them with that and educate the public on giving blood.”

The communications provider invited staff, customers, as well as members of the public to come in and donate blood particularly in aid of those critically injured during Hurricane Dorian.

REV Senior Public Relations Coordinator Davrielle Burrows said,

“Today was an incredible display of the love and willingness of Bahamians to help our sisters and brothers in every way that we can. We were happy to open our doors to assist with such a noble cause. The gift of blood is the gift of life for so many and as a company, we are profoundly grateful to facilitate such a meaningful endeavor. Today was my first time giving blood but it most certainly won’t be the last.”

Mr. Palmer expressed his gratitude for REV’s assistance saying, “REV is awesome! They reached out to us after Hurricane Dorian. They saw the opportunity and they are really into the community so it was like a no brainer.” Palmer concluded.

Interested persons are welcome to visit the Princess Margaret Hospital Blood Bank at their leisure and eligible persons can give one pint of blood every eight weeks.
