Cable Bahamas Deploys Technical Team Immediately Following NEMA’s All-Clear for Central & Southeast Bahamas

“Safety remains a top concern as we assess our network”

NASSAU, THE BAHAMAS (Saturday, September 9th) — Cable Bahamas’ technical teams were deployed on Saturday, September 9th, immediately following the National Emergency Management Agency’s all-clear message for the central and southeast Bahamas, according to COO, John Gomez. The executive indicated that the network sustained minimal impact in the areas outside the southeast and northwest Bahamas, where Grand Bahama, Bimini and Andros remain under hurricane warning. “Intermittent commercial power outages affected some of the nodes in our network during the evening of September 8th and into the following morning but we worked closely with BPL to ensure swift service restoration.”

Gomez continued, “Our primary objective was to ensure the continuity of our REV services across our commercial and residential  business entities during the passing of this hurricane and then the quick and efficient restoration of any impacted services.” The company confirmed that their emergency protocols were activated from Sunday, September 3rd as the forecasted weather trajectory indicated a potential impact to The Bahamas.

“Our technical teams are currently assessing the impact to the network in the southern Bahamas”, according to Gomez. “We will provide a complete update on those areas directly impacted by Hurricane Irma as soon as all assessments reports are complete.”

The company once again apologized for the disruption of services that some customers experienced due to Hurricane Irma. Vice President of Marketing, David Burrows urged the public to contact the company via any of its channels; Live Chat, email, phone or Facebook direct message if they have commercial power to their homes but disruption to their REV services. “We fully understand the need to stay connected during this time, and urge our customers to contact us with a brief description of the service issue and their account information and our technical teams will work to resolve any issue as swiftly as possible.”

The company assured their subscribers that they will continue to monitor Hurricane Irma until the entire Bahamas receives the all-clear.
