Cable Bahamas Group Launches High Heels in High Places Mentorship Program

The nations foremost telecoms company launches new mentorship program in grand style at JWB Prime Steak and Seafood.

 

The Cable Bahamas Group of Companies launched its High Heels in High Places Mentorship Program on Thursday March 24th, 2022.

High Heels in High Places Mentorship Program was created as an outgrowth of the Cable Bahamas Group Women in Leadership campaign which was created to celebrate 10 of the senior-most female executives within the Cable Bahamas Group of Companies. This new phase of the initiative gives these women the opportunity by to pay it forward by mentoring women in junior level positions within the company and offer one on one career guidance for a period of 7 months.

Cable Bahamas Group CEO Franklyn Butler II called the event critically importantas it brings women to the forefront and provides a once in a lifetime opportunity for some very deserving young ladies. I am particularly pleased to see the launch of this High Heels in High Places initiative. The women on our team have proven to be exceptionally qualified and as, equally committed to the success of our company as the men and I am happy to see that so many of them are ascending to the highest levels of leadership. Mentorship is something that I value in my own life and Im sure that each of the young ladies within this mentorship program stands to receive a wealth of knowledge from her mentor which can shape her career for the better.

The launch party was hosted and at JWB Prime Steakhouse and Seafood, and sponsored in part by the host resort, Margaritaville Nassau. In attendance were the Chairman of the Bahamas Chamber of Commerce Mrs. Krystle Ferguson and the Managing Director of the SBDC Access Accelerator Mrs. Samantha Rolle. Both ladies shared brief remarks with the group. Mr. Butler and Aliv CEO Mr. John Gomez also offered remarks celebrating both the mentors and mentees.

Hal Davis, Director of Sales and Marketing at Margaritaville noted that gender equality in the workplace is a crucial component of the culture at Margaritaville. We hosted the event at JWB Prime Steak and Seafood. It was a great event and we had some great awards. We were thrilled to be part of this initiative. Gender equality and cultural diversity is dear to my heart because I have three daughtersMy hope is that they find an organization that really embraces gender equality and allows them to flourish. I believe Cable Bahamas is definitely an organization that does this.

Each of the mentees was presented with an iPhone 13 and the Mentors received personalized artwork as well as gift cards to the St. Somewhere Spa at Margaritaville.

The mentors include, Charnette Thompson VP Business Solutions, Beverly Saunders VP HR, Gravette Brown Chief Aliv Innovator, Amber Carey Aliv Senior Director Commercial and Marketing, Nicola Roy Aliv VP Finance, Tracey Boucher Group VP Engineering and Technology, Nerika Burrows REV VP Finance, and Patrice Thompson Aliv Head of Sales.

The mentees include, Lynishka Arnette, Tara Young, Shikara Bonimy, Dyanndria Cury, Kendra Munroe, Shannise Wright Lekeita Adderley, Ciji Barr, Shanika Pinder and Valeria Gardiner.

John Gomez, Chief Executive Officer at Aliv had this to say. Its just an amazing program. I love that we are telling the stories of these women in leadership so that those who come behind them know what is possible. The event was amazing but whats great about it is that it was not a one off event. Its an ongoing program that is impactful and meaningful and Im so grateful to the team for putting it together.
