Cable Bahamas Group Seeks to Empower Women in Technology

Beverly Saunders Vice President of Human Resources for the Cable Bahamas Group of Companies shares about why the media conglomerate is prioritizing women in leadership.

The conversation regarding women in leadership, particularly within the fields of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) is one that is rapidly increasing within our region and the Cable Bahamas Group of Companies seeks to position itself as a leader in that discourse. The nations premier telecommunications company recently celebrated more than 25 years in the business filled with major milestones including advancements and maintaining its position as brand leader in technology and service. These achievements could not have been attained without an excellent team of dedicated professionals who have offered their brilliance, agility and commitment to providing their consumer base with the best product possible. In 2022 the Cable Bahamas Group wants to highlight the women in strategic leadership positions, particularly in those fields largely occupied by men who have made major contributions to its success.  

Vice President of Human Resources for the Cable Bahamas Group, Mrs. Beverly Saunders said, “Cable Bahamas has distinguished itself as a company where women are not just able, but empowered to dominate in the fields of engineering and technology. In the year 2016 none of our senior executive roles were occupied by womenand to date we have seven women at the rank of Vice President who are leading major business divisions. This means that more than half of the key executives in the Cable Bahamas Group are women. We are extremely pleased to witness the positive trend of women responsible for critical areas of our business  and  are hoping to build a culture where women are inspired and equipped to lead in the fields of engineering and technology.” 

One of the rising stars in technological leadership within the cable Bahamas Group is Ms. Tracey Boucher who currently serves as theVice President of Engineering for REV and Aliv. Ms. Boucher boasts a career of over 30 years experience within the field of telecommunications and 15 years in engineering, a field that has historically been predominately run by men. When asked about her experience as a trailblazer within the Bahamian engineering field she had this to say.

“I entered the field of Engineering and Technology because I am fascinated by solving real-life problems. It brings out creativity and allows for countless opportunities to be innovative and think outside the box.  The experience has been phenomenal as you watch your horizon expands as technology evolves.” 

Over the next several months the Cable Bahamas Group will be sharing the stories of some of its foremost women in technology. This campaign was put together in hopes of inspiring other young ladies to branch out and aspire to leadership with in the fields of information telecommunications, technology and engineering. 

Franklyn Butler II, CEO of Cable Bahamas Ltd. said, “ We are seeking to cultivate an environment where every member of our team is inspired and empowered to flourish. That mandate requires that we celebrate persons who are breaking out of existing social norms and in business and leadership. We are pleased to celebrate all of the women on our teams who are boldly charting new courses in their respective fields of expertise.”
