REV’s Who’s Got Next Championship – Nassau Edition

Panthers take home $6k and REV’s 2022 Who’s Got Next Championship Title

REV – The Home of Sports Entertainment in the Bahamas brought its inaugural Who’s Got Next Basketball Tournament, Nassau edition to a close this past Saturday on the Flamingo Gardens park.

The four-week tournament hosted eight regional night and government league teams consisting of vibrant young Bahamian men around the island who displayed nothing short of hard work, determination and great sportsmanship each week. In the end, it came down to Team Pirates and Team Panthers going head to head to compete for the $5,000 cash prize and securing the title. Both teams gave their all on the court, but The Panthers led by Kevin McPhee, Perry Darling, Neil Andrews and Valdez Bodie came out on top with a winning score of 52-45 to become REV’s 2022 ‘Who’s Got Next’ Championship Title Winner and Cash Prize recipient.

The Panthers coaches, still in celebratory mode collectively saidWe would like to thank our team and congratulate them on their victory. We are grateful and would like to thank REV for giving us the opportunity to participate in this tournament. It was a well-organized, family and community oriented event which is definitely needed in today’s environment. Each court played on was safe and clean and we all were able to have a great time while doing what we love.

They continued “The event which spanned over four weeks was a rewarding one for both coaches and players. The amount of community exposure and support received, while being allowed to showcase our talent was certainly priceless. Knowing this will become an annual event, we would like and appreciate REV‘s continued partnership with our organization for future success. Again, we thank REV for a most rewarding experience.

Following the Panthers’ great victory over the Pirates, they were given the opportunity to win an additional $1,000 by playing and beating the REV all-star team. Despite the stiff competition, the Panthers came out on top and won a total of $6,000.

REV is pleased to have facilitated the ‘Who’s Got Next’ basketball tournament over the past few weeks in Nassau. The objective of the tournament was to help build the community and assist in the positive development of the youth and young adults in our country and we at REV believes that goal was accomplished. Residents surrounding each park enjoyed a family fun day consisting of food, drinks and treats while watching an actioned packed basketball game courtesy of REV.

During each event REV offered several means for patrons to also win big with REV including the opportunity to be randomly selected from the stands to compete in the Half-court shot half time experience where winners had a chance to win cash ranging from $250- $500.

One of REV’s Half-court shot winners, Demian Williams expressed his gratitude to REV stating “It was a really great event. I am so thankful to REV for providing this opportunity. I was selected and I know God was with me and I made the shot. These are some serious times and money is hard to come by so I am grateful that REV offered this avenue for persons like me to win cash. I was able to win $500 for doing something I love to do, which is shooting hoops.”

When asked about what he will spend the money on, Williams said “I won $500 and this money will go towards my bills. Bills can sometimes swallow you up, so it’s good to know I have a little breathing room.”

In addition to the half-court shot, REV asked trivia questions in which winners were awarded Aliv and Solomons Gift cards along with free REV Services. Additionally, residents in the area who signed up or upgraded to REV’s TRIO+ bundle were entered to win Smart Home devices or a Smart TV.

REV continues to strive on being a great corporate citizen in the communities. Along with the community events, REV donated Basketball Nets and rims to each park the tournament was hosted on-along with ensuring the parks were cleaned prior to and after the tournaments. The tournaments took place in various community parks including Mermaid Blvd Park, Edmond Moxey Community Center, The Elizabeth Estates Park and The Flamingo Gardens Community Park.

REV’s Public Relations Coordinator, Shazell Rolle said “When we ventured into some of the parks there were no nets and some were missing the entire rim. Our team saw a need and took action. We replaced the damaged nets and rims and were delighted to see all the residents faces lit up when they played on the court. At REV our mantra is YOU & Us together and we pride ourselves on that.

REV would like to extend a special thanks to all its sponsors; The New Providence Basketball Association, Royal Bahamas Police Force, Caribbean Bottling Company, Little Caesars, Limemade, Sysco, The Pit Boys, The Ice Shack, and many more. Having the support of these organizations was key to the success of this event.

Following the completion of the Nassau tournament, REV will continue its community building efforts over the next three weeks on all three of the digital islands, Eleuthera, Abaco, and Grand Bahama. Across each island, REV will host the Who’s Got Next tournament and give teams a chance to win $2K in cash and prizes.
