The Cable Bahamas Business Solutions team helps entrepreneurs prepare for hurricane season

The country’s #1 communications provider hosts forums to equip business owners with much needed information to avoid disaster.

With the peak of hurricane season here, the Cable Bahamas Business Solutions team held the first of two Hurricane Preparedness Webinars to discuss all the ways to secure businesses for the upcoming hurricane season.

Understanding that the impact of hurricanes can be devastating and getting caught without a plan in place can worsen the impact, Cable Bahamas Business Solutions and partners including Bahamas Met Office, NEMA, Sunshine Insurance, ThinkOn and Aliv, proactively provided attendees useful insight on best practices for hurricane preparation.

“It is vital that preparations for hurricane season are made as early as possible,” said Gayle Moncur, Deputy Director for the National Emergency Management Association (NEMA).  “Some best practices include monitoring local radio and TV stations for updates, having an emergency kit prepared with supplies and understanding weather terminology to effectively assess the progress of the storms are all very important in helping to stay safe and protected.”

With a number of information-packed events planned to help business leaders better prepare this hurricane season, Vice President of Cable Bahamas Business Solutions, Charnette Thompson, commented, “As The Bahamas is frequently impacted by hurricanes, business owners must continually review their buildings, systems, people and processes, and take the time to document plans and consider contingencies that might impact restoration of their operations. These strategies along with cloud backup or virtualized systems that support fixed (office-based) and mobile (remote workers) can help to reduce downtime and optimize business operations.”

Mrs. Thompson continued that “No business, regardless of its size or location, is immune to a disaster and business restoration challenges in the aftermath.  This is why Cable Bahamas Business Solutions specializes in understanding these complexities, and in turn offers scalable corporate landline, Internet, mobile/ LTE, push-to-talk and cloud platforms to support business continuity plans to suit any business model.”

A second Hurricane Preparedness Webinar is scheduled to take place, Thursday, June 17th  from 12 noon to 1 pm and is open to the business owners and managers, who want to learn about current business continuity trends and strategies from our panel of subject matter experts. Interested persons can call 601-8911 or visit Cable Bahamas Business Solutions on social media to register today and join our next thought leadership event.
